Bruised leg. Haematoma (bruise) on the back of the knee of a 47 year old man 1 week after sustaining a torn hamstring. The injury occurred whilst playing football. A haematoma is a localised collection of blood caused by bleeding from a ruptured blood vessel. Most haematomas disappear without treatment after several days.
