Fractured spine. Coloured frontal 3D computed tomography (CT) scan of the fractured lower spine of a 25-year-old patient, which was caused by a severe motor accident. The fracture has caused a shift in the bone structure in the 10th thoracic vertebra (T10, just below centre). Surgery is often considered as the best treatment option for a broken back, though the procedure is complicated and recovery can be slow.
