Fractured neck. Profile X-ray of the left side of a 23-year-old woman with a fractured neck. The base of the skull is at top left. The fracture is a displacement fracture in the 6th cervical vertebra (C6, lower centre), where a piece of bone has shifted out of alignment. Surgery is often considered as the best treatment option for a broken neck, although the procedure is complicated and recovery can be slow.
