Hernia scar. The scar results from a surgical incision made to repair a hernia. The skin along the scar is red and inflamed due to the infection, which is treated with antibiotic drugs. An abdominal hernia is a weakening of the muscles and other tissue of the abdominal wall. The internal organs can then protrude through this weakness. In the lower abdomen and groin, it will be the intestines that become herniated. If the condition is not corrected, intestinal twisting can lead to life-threatening complications.
