Sutured surgical incision. Close-up of a suture in an incision made in a patient's chest. Sutures help with healing by bringing the two sides of a wound together. They also minimise scarring. The incision was made to allow the fitting of an insertable loop recorder (ILR). The ILR is a device that is implanted beneath the skin to monitor heart rate.
