Scar following open chest aortic surgery. This is a 62-year-old woman who underwent open chest surgery 6 weeks earlier. The operation was to replace the aortic valve in the heart and the aortic stump. Aortic stumps are areas where the aorta attaches to other organs, such as the heart or kidneys.
