Infrared photograph of a severely burnt hand. The blackened areas on the fingers, thumb & base of the thumb are eschar (scab tissue), caused by the destruction of the skin and underlying tissue & blood vessels from the electrical burn. Ordinary photography shows only the surface features of the injury (see M335/06M), whereas infrared photography sees beneath to the damaged blood vessels.
