Skin graft on the scalp of a 27 year old man one year after the graft operation. The graft was needed after a road traffic accident. Skin grafts are used when a wound is too large to heal naturally, or will cause severe scarring if left. The skin for grafts is generally taken from the patient to prevent rejection of the tissue by the immune system.
