Webbed toes of a 32-year-old woman. This congenital (present from birth) fusion of the toes or fingers is known as syndactyly. Fingers are usually surgically separated soon after birth to maintain functionality. Toes are often left unchanged, as their separation is done purely for cosmetic reasons.
