Postural scoliosis after treatment. Back of a 16 year old girl with postural scoliosis, after 6 weeks of physiotherapy. Scoliosis is a lateral (sideways) curvature of the spine. This type of scoliosis, which is also known as non-structural, is caused by treatable underlying factors. These may include muscle spasm, differing leg length and osteoarthritis. Treatment is of the underlying cause. For a picture of this patient before physiotherapy see M350/338.
