Dyslexia testing. Dyslexia, sometimes called word blindness, is a congenital or developmental disorder affecting a child's ability to read and write. It can create serious educational problems, but once identified can be treated effectively with specialist teaching. This girl is being assessed for dyslexia. A variety of tasks involving numbers, words and symbols are used to produce a 'profile', a unique pattern of strengths and weaknesses that is analysed by an educational psychologist. If dyslexia is diagnosed, recommendations will be made as to what action to take. Photographed at the Dyslexia Institute in Egham, Surrey, UK.
