Hearing aid. This small hearing aid is worn in the ear canal. The cord at right faces out of the ear, allowing the device to be easily removed. Hearing aids improve hearing in people with partial deafness. Sound is picked up by a microphone, amplified and transmitted into the ear by speakers. Each aid is fine-tuned to amplify the range of frequencies most needed by the patient.
