Caption

Baha hearing system check-up. Man with a bone anchored hearing system (Baha), undergoing an annual check-up. The Baha offers a solution to those who cannot benefit from air conduction hearing aids. It works by amplifying sound vibrations and transmitting them to a small titanium implant. The vibrating implant sets up vibrations within the skull and inner ear that finally stimulate the nerve fibres of the inner ear, allowing hearing. The system allows sound to be conducted through the bone rather than via the middle ear, a process known as direct bone conduction.
