Caption

Thermogram of a person's arms and hands after smoking a cigarette, and showing the effects of smoking on the peripheral circulation. Thermography maps heat distribution over the body surface, providing a colour coded image in 1 degree celsius steps (see code strip on left) where blue = cold and white = hot. A temperature reference disc (grey area at left of arms) is calibrated at 30 degrees celsius, the apparent temperature of most of the hand surface. This corresponds to a drop of 1-2 degrees celsius due to smoking the cigarette.
