Post-mortem on a smoker. Gross specimens of the internal organs of a smoker after removal during a post-mortem examination. The lungs are at centre. The black areas on the lungs are tar deposits from cigarette smoke. Cigarette smoking damages the lungs, and can cause disorders such as lung cancer, bronchitis and emphysema. The other organs seen here (some from other cadavers) include the brain, the heart, the liver and the kidneys.
