Hashish. Small pieces of hashish in the palm of a hand. Hashish is resin prepared from the leaves and flowering parts of the plant Cannabis sativa. It is widely and illegally used as an intoxicating drug. Hashish is heated, and crumbled into tobacco in a hand-rolled cigarette, or joint. Alternatively, it can be crumbled into a pipe or incorporated in cakes and biscuits. The active ingredient is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). When taken, the effects of the drug occur within a few minutes. These include relaxation, a slowing of time, and increased imagination.
