Syringe disposal. Hypodermic syringe being dropped into a public bin, which is mounted on a wall. The bin is provided for the disposal of contaminated sharps, such as syringes used to inject illegal drugs like heroin. Used syringes may be a potential health risk if littered or even placed in household waste. They may contain traces of the drug or the user may have HIV, which could infect waste disposal workers. Photographed in Italy.
