Intravenous saline drip solution. Bag containing a saline solution to rehydrate injured patients or those who are unable to eat or drink. The solution has a salinity close to that of bodily fluids, and is administered as an intravenous infusion, a slow addition to the patient's bloodstream through a needle placed in a vein. This method is also used to add glucose (to maintain energy levels) and to add drugs to treat a patient.
