Medical waste containers at a hospital work station. Different types of waste must be separated before disposal. The bin with the red lid is for sharp objects, such as needles and broken glassware that may be contaminated with fluids from patients. This sort of waste is very carefully disposed of, usually by incineration. The yellow bin is for non-hazardous waste. Photographed at Chatellerault Hospital, Vienne, France.
