Ampoules. Glass ampoules are designed to keep vaccines or drugs sterile until needed. The ampoules are sealed under sterile conditions, and when they are required the top is snapped off, allowing the drug or vaccine to be used. Standard ampoule volumes are usually 1-20 millilitres, but can be larger.
