Caption

Artery scanning robot. Hippocrate robotic system performing a vascular ultrasound scan on the carotid arteries of a patient with atherosclerosis (fatty deposits within arterial walls). This procedure requires precise placement of the probe. Using a robot makes the results more reliable. Hippocrate (named after the French form of Hippocrates, the Greek physician) was initially developed at the University of Montpellier, France, and commercialised by the French company Sinters SA.
