Caption

Radiographer prepares a seated female patient for a neck X-ray. Here, the cervical vertebrae of the neck are to be examined from the side, which enables spine curvature also to be viewed. The X-ray source is to the right of the patient; the X-ray film is to the patient's left, being held by the radiographer. With her other hand, the radiographer adjusts the height of this equipment. An X-ray of this body region is useful in detecting abnormal spine curvature, fracture, slipped disc, whiplash, and pinched nerves due to injury to the bones of the neck.
