X-ray and CT scan diagnosis. Hospital radiologists at a light box examine and discuss images of the chest of a patient. X-rays of the chest are seen at top; a radiologist holds rows of computed tomography (CT) scans through the chest. The CT scans show the heart and lungs of the patient sectioned at various levels. A CT scanner uses multiple X-rays aimed around the patient to produce "slice" images through the body. Both methods are important diagnostic techniques.
