Coronary angiography. Patient undergoing an X-ray angiography examination of their heart during treatment for rigid artery walls (coronary angiohypertonia). At upper centre is the X-ray machine and at centre right is the image of the heart region. During coronary angiography a catheter is introduced through a vein in the groin and guided to the heart using digital X-ray imaging. Once in position, a radio-opaque dye is injected to outline the arteries and locate areas that are obstructed. Obstructions can then be surgically removed. The increased artery rigidity of an angiohypertonia sufferer causes a restriction in the flow of blood.
