Brain angiography. Female patient undergoing cerebral angiography. The arteries of her brain are seen in the angiograms (arterial X- rays) on the monitors at upper left. In angiography, a radio-opaque dye is injected into an arterial system to make it visible to X-rays produced by an X-ray machine (upper centre). Cerebral angiography is used to detect aneurysms (arterial ballooning) and the location of tumours.
