Nuclear medicine technique used for monitoring cerebral blood flow. The patient is breathing a gas containing radioactive xenon, a gamma radiation emitter that becomes concentrated in the blood vessels of the brain. Detectors inside the subject's helmet map the position and intensity of gamma ray emission and data is processed on a computer to provide the graphic images visible in background.
