Polyp removal. Endoscope view of a patient's colon, while undergoing the surgical procedure known as polypectomy, to remove polyps. A snare wire (black) has been lassoed around the polyp, the snare wire will be slowly tightened until the polyp is cut off. To stop bleeding and seal the surgical wound, the snare wire has an electric current passed through it (electrocautery), while it severs the polyp.
