Electrocardiograph (ECG) examination of a patient using a portable 6- channel ECG machine. Electrodes which record the electrical activity of the heart are attached to the patient's chest. The results are displayed on a moving strip of paper. ECG aids in the diagnosis of certain heart diseases and abnormalities by providing characteristic "fingerprint" traces. For example, clinical observations suggesting someone has had a heart attack may be confirmed by an ECG.
