Gastrostomy tube in the stomach of a 3-year-old girl. This child was born prematurely at 26 weeks. Premature babies often have difficulty feeding normally and are tube-fed. A percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) tube is surgically inserted into the stomach and is used to supply nutrients directly, bypassing the mouth and throat. This child still has feeding problems and continues to use the PEG tube.
