Haemodialysis. Forearm of a female patient undergoing kidney dialysis (haemodialysis). Blood is being removed from the patient's body via one tube and passed through a dialysis machine (not seen). The dialysis machine acts as an artificial kidney, removing waste products and excess water. The cleansed blood is returned into the patient's blood stream via the other tube. Haemomdialysis is used when the kidneys are unable to function properly.
