Intensive care. Nurse adjusting the rate of flow of fluid from an intravenous drip in an intensive care unit. The drip provides a continuous flow of fluid to the patient, delivered intravenously (through a vein). It may also be used to deliver drugs. The patient is recovering from open heart surgery. Intensive care units provide constant care for patients during severe illness or after major operations.
