Blood centrifuge. Masked female technician pipetting a blood sample using a pipettor, a type of automatic pipette. The sample will be placed into the centrifuge (lower right) which will separate out the blood cells from the fluid (serum) by spinning the sample at high speed. The force of spinning pushes the densest matter to the very bottom of the centrifuge tube. Centrifuging is carried out when only one of the components of blood needs to be tested. Face masks and rubber gloves help to maintain sterile conditions.
