Spilled blood sample. Blood is analysed to: monitor levels of its components, for example glucose and cholesterol; to identify antibodies and antigens, for example HIV (human immunodeficiency virus); and to determine a person's blood group. The test tube has a bar coded label on the side for automatic identification of the blood sample by bar code scanning.
