Breast surgery. Surgeons operating on a woman's breast. They are excising the lactiferous ducts to remove cancerous tissue. The lactiferous ducts drain milk from the lobes of the mammary gland, and open at the nipple. The ducts are the most common location for breast cancer. If the tumour is small and has not yet spread (metastasized) to other areas of the body, prognosis is good.
