Da Vinci robot surgeon. This robot, developed and produced by the US company Intuitive Surgical, has four robotic arms. A specially trained surgeon (left) operates the ergonomically designed console via remote joysticks with force-feedback. One of the robot's arms has two microcomputer-cameras, allowing the surgeon to observe the operation. The other three arms contain tools used to carry out the operation, including tools for clamping, suturing and tissue manipulation. Photographed in 2007, in Maastricht, the Netherlands.
