Surgical monitor. The monitor screen displays traces and numbers tracking the condition of the patient. The vital signs, such as the heartbeat (54 beats per minute), blood pressure (90/43), and breathing rate, are monitored during an operation, along with levels of oxygen (99 per cent) and carbon dioxide in the blood. This allows the surgeons to monitor the health of the patient during the operation. Alarms sound if the numbers reach critical levels. Photographed in the UK.
