Heart surgery. Surgical team preparing a woman for coronary artery bypass surgery. Her legs and breasts have been swabbed with antiseptic. Lengths of vein will be removed from her legs and segments of arteries from her breasts. These will be attached to her heart to bypass narrowed or blocked coronary arteries. The coronary arteries supply the heart muscle with oxygen and nutrients. Other members of the surgical team are attaching intravenous drips. Photographed at The Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh, Scotland.
