Comfrey (Symphytum officinale). This plant has long been used in herbal medicine to treat cuts and other wounds. It has astringent properties (stopping blood flow) and its mucilaginous nature means it has been used a wound dressing, where it promotes healing. It is poisonous to the liver when consumed in large amounts.
