Cataract surgery. Surgeon's hands using equipment to place an artificial lens in a patient's eye. This is being done because the old lens had lost its transparency in a condition called a cataract. Cataracts are extremely common in old age, causing a gradual loss of visual acuity (sharpness) and increasing short-sightedness.
