Cataract surgery. Surgeon's hands using equipment to adjust an artificial lens in a patient's eye. The old lens has been replaced because it had lost its transparency and turned cloudy in a condition called a cataract. Cataracts are extremely common in old age, causing a slow loss of visual acuity (sharpness) and increasing short-sightedness.
