Breast reduction surgery. Surgeon uses a steel suction tube to conduct liposuction for breast reduction (mammoplasty) in a woman. Scars from previous surgical procedures can be seen on the patient's breast. This cosmetic surgery reduces the size of large or drooping breasts to improve their appearance. Incisions are usually made in the breast, unwanted tissue is removed, and the incisions are closed with stitches. With lipo- suction, however, only a small incision is needed in order to introduce the suction device into the breast. Liposuction as a technique thus prevents widespread scarring of the breast.
