Laser wrinkle treatment. Woman wearing goggles to protect her eyes from damage during laser cosmetic treatment to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. The machine produces a pulsed laser beam that is focused onto the patient's skin through a pen-like tool (blue, centre right). The laser stimulates the production of more collagen in the top layers of the skin's epidermis. Collagen is an elastic connective tissue that is present naturally in the skin, but which is not replaced so effectively as people age. Stimulating the production of more collagen reduces the depth of wrinkles.
