Laser wrinkle treatment. Woman undergoing laser cosmetic treatment to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Both she and the laser operator are wearing goggles to protect their eyes from damage by the laser. The operator uses a pen-like tool to focus a pulsed laser beam onto the patient's skin. The laser stimulates the production of more collagen in the top layers of the skin's epidermis. Collagen is an elastic connective tissue that is present naturally in the skin, but which is not replaced so effectively as people age. Stimulating the production of more collagen reduces the depth of wrinkles.
