Cosmetic breast and abdominal surgery. Image 28 of 28. Cosmetic surgeons operating on a middle-aged woman undergoing breast enlargement and abdominal sculpturing. They are now in the liposuction stage, after performing an abdominoplasty and breast augmentation surgery. An abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), is a procedure where excess fat and skin is removed from the lower abdomen and the muscles of the abdominal walls are tightened. The abdominoplasty wound (left) has already been stapled and is now being stitched. A liposuction device (top centre) is being used to remove the fat that could not be excised. The fat is removed by suction through a canula (hollow tube). For a series showing the entire surgical procedure, see images M590/498 - M590/525.
