Cosmetic arm and leg bones. Metal prostheses to be implanted in legs and arms to replace bone that is removed for donation to a bone bank. These simple implants are used to replace bone donated from a dead person. This cosmetic measure preserves the appearance of the body for viewing before burial. The two implants are for an arm (short) and for a whole leg (long). The removed bone is stored and processed by the bone bank for use in treating bone disease and for bone surgery. Photographed at the bone bank at the Rizzoli Institute, Bologna, Italy.
