Plastic components of artificial knees, ready for use in an operating theatre. The surgeon will select the correct size during the operation, after measuring the patient's bones. These are the plastic spacers that cushion the two metal implants that make up a knee replacement. One of the metal implants is implanted into the femur bone, the other into the tibia bone. Artificial knee joints are used to restore mobility in those whose knees have been injured or affected by severe arthritis.
