Nitrate tablets. Blister pack of Monoket Retard tablets, used to treat angina (chest pain). Monoket Retard is a trade name for isosorbide mononitrate, which belongs to the nitrates family. Isosorbide mononitrate prevents angina attacks by dilating both the veins and arteries. This reduces pressure placed on the heart and ensures enough oxygen is supplied to the muscle. There is a danger of hypotension (low blood pressure) if too much medication is taken.
