Thorn apple plants (Datura stramonium) growing on recently disturbed ground, used for dumping soil. This common weed is poisonous to humans. It is sometimes used recreationally to cause vivid hallucinations that can last for days. An overdose of thorn apple can lead to brain damage or death. Photographed on the site of the new Quito airport, Quito, Ecuador.
