Plendil hypertension pill on its blister pack. Plendil is the trade name for the drug felodipine. It is taken to reduce blood pressure, which it does by blocking calcium channels in the heart and blood vessels. This prevents calcium ions from entering cells, which dilates blood vessels and also reduces the contraction of the heart, lowering blood pressure. High blood pressure is a major risk factor for heart attacks and strokes.
