Radiotherapy. Coloured X-ray of the skull of a person about to undergo radiotherapy for a cancerous tumour. Superimposed over the X-ray is a grid which is used as part of the targeting process. This process is vital if the radiation beams are to be directed correctly at the tumour. The targeting is extremely complex, clinical physicists are employed to do this. This careful preparation allows the beams to be delivered at a depth of penetration comparable to surgical intervention.
